ENGLAND – Brother J. Richard Roy, S.C., (Brother Marion), age 67, of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, Watling House, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, died Nov. 4, in England.
Born in Lewiston, he was the son of the late Emile Roy and Louise M. (Chouinard) Roy.
Brother Richard entered the Brothers of the Sacred Heart on Aug. 28, 1957, at Harrisville, R.I. He pronounced his first vows on Aug. 24, 1961, at Harrisville and his perpetual vows on July 30, 1967, in St. Albans.
After teaching for three years at Sacred Heart School, Andover, Mass., Brother Richard ministered in education for 30 years as a teacher, including one year as headmaster, at Sacred Heart Junior School, now St. Columba’s Prep, St. Albans, England. In addition, as an accomplished iconographer, painter, glass engraver and craftsman in wood and leather, Brother Richard’s products were in great demand.
Brother Richard is survived by his sister, Pauline Grehawick and her husband, Gregory, of Norfolk, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
