ORONO – Maine author Sandra Lynn Hutchison will read from and sign copies of her new poetry collection, “The Art of Nesting,” at a new book celebration sponsored by the Orono Public Library on Thursday, Nov. 20. This free event will be held in the Inn at Dirigo Pines, 9 Alumni Drive in Orono at 7:15 p.m.

Hutchison has received a number of literary awards and prizes, including an Emily Dickinson Poetry Prize from Universities West Press. Her poems, stories, essays and reviews have appeared in a wide variety of publications, including the Oxford anthology of stories about “China, Chinese Ink, Western Pen.”

She is also the author of “Chinese Brushstrokes,” a book of stories about China in the prelude to and aftermath of the Tiananmen Incident.

Before settling in Maine, she lived and traveled in mainland China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, working as a writer, researcher and teacher. She has made her home in Orono for the past decade, where she teaches at the University of Maine and serves as poetry editor for Maine literary journal, “Puckerbrush Review.”
