BRUNSWICK – Mabel E. Moore, 89, formerly of Bowdoin, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Parkview Hospital.
She was born in Lisbon Falls, on Aug. 27, 1919, a daughter to the late Raymond and Florence (Harding) Allen. She was educated in local schools and later went on to college.
She married, George (Bing) Moore on Jan. 5, 1940; he predeceased her in 1996. She starting teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in Durham and later taught for many years in Lisbon.
She was very dedicated and a favorite teacher to many; she spent many hours tutoring kids after school. She was a member of The West Bowdoin Baptist Church and enjoyed knitting and crossword puzzles. Her children will remember her as a very proper and dignified lady, always worying about what the neighbors would think.
She leaves four daughters, Mary Ann Dickey and her husband, Richard, of Bowdoin, Florence Marstaller and her husband, Paul, of Durham, Linda Ouellette and her husband, George, of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Brenda Lemke and her husband, Gordon, of Campton, N.H.; a sister, Marion Gardiner of Sabattus; a brother, Harold Allen of Topsham; 13 grandchildren; 14 geat-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by three sons, George Jr., Emerson and Walter; a daughter, Jane Wing; two grandsons, Scott Manson and Robert Ouellette; and a granddaughter, Karen Dickey.
