We would like to congratulate Kathy Montejo and her staff for the efficient operation of the polling places in Lewiston on Nov. 4. At the three polling places that we observed, voters were treated courteously. There were short, or no, lines. Assistance was available for new voters and those whose addresses had changed, or those who were uneasy with the process. This, despite the fact that all three of those polling places were busy throughout the day.

There must have been many opportunities for poll workers to become frustrated and short-tempered, but we observed nothing but polite, professional behavior.

That is the way voting should be. Thanks to all who participated.
