As a result of the hard-working knitters from Bolsters Mills and the Casco area, many adults, teens and children in the area will be a little warmer this winter.
Using the yarn donated by many generous people, nearly 900 knit and crocheted mittens, hats, scarves, slippers and headbands were created by the handcrafters and given to Santa Does Oxford, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Christmas for Families, the homeless teens program and food bank, WIC, and Christmas for Kids.
The Casco group has knit for a long time, giving their items to fire departments, schoolchildren and others needing warmth. Many plan to continue fashioning for next year, so yarn donations will continue to be accepted.
I send my sincerest thanks and appreciation to all who helped with this worthwhile project.
Sylvia McCann, West Paris
