SOMERSWORTH, N.H. – Ronald T. “Ron” Marcoux passed away on Thursday Nov. 20, with his loving wife by his side at home in Somersworth, N.H., following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born on March 15, 1938, in Boston, Mass., the son of Shirley Thiriet. Ron was raised and educated in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1957. While still in high school, Ron served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard 103d Inf. RCT Lewiston. He received his bachelor of science degree in engineering physics from the University of Maine in 1962.
Ron resided in Portsmouth, N.H., for many years. He worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Engineering and Planning Department, in several general engineering positions. He retired as supervisor general engineer of the Design Liaison Branch after 33 years of service. Ron was a member of the National Civilian Managers Association and the Society of Naval Engineers while employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Ron was currently employed by CACI International, Portsmouth, N.H., as an engineer.
Ron found the love of his life, Tina, and enjoyed traveling to many warm destinations with palm trees and ocean breezes. He was an avid amateur astronomer and loved viewing the stars and planets with his many telescopes and binoculars. He enjoyed his backyard, poolside in the summer, and many nights in all seasons viewing the night skies. He loved to share his astronomy enthusiasm with all. He was a member of the Astronomical Society of Northern New England (ASNNE), Kennebec.
He was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed many football games.
He loved his son Todd and wife, Ellen, and truly enjoyed spending time with his family, and being unconditionally loved as a Grandpa to Amanda and Brandon.
Ron was a caring and gentle man with a generous heart and great sense of humor, and will be missed by many dear friends and his wife’s family who loved him as a brother, uncle and son.
Ron will be fondly missed by his wife of nine years, Tina (White) Marcoux, of Somersworth; mother, Shirley Thiriet of Lisbon; son, Todd Marcoux and his wife, Ellen, and grandchildren Amanda and Brandon of Pepperell, Mass.; brother, Paul Marcoux and his wife, Marie, of Cumming, Ga.; sisters, Bette Scalia and Dora Dick, both of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Emile and Anna Marcoux; a brother, Daniel Marcoux; and a sister, Yvonne Worth.
