FARMINGTON – Florence T. Smith, 87, of Chesterville, died Friday, Nov. 21, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington.
She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Rome, the daughter of Lyman and Rose (Curtis) Tracy. She received her education in New Sharon schools and in March of 1939, married Alden H. Smith of Wilton.
In 1958, they moved to Chesterville where they raised Angus cattle for 20 years. Her husband retired in October 1981.
In addition to being a homemaker, Florence was also employed at the Wilton Woolen Mill, Forster Manufacturing Co., and later G. H. Bass & Co., retiring on June 1, 1983.
Survivors include her son, George Smith and his wife, Bonnie, of Webster, Fla.; and her daughter, Mary Ryder and her husband, Roger, of Temple; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her companion of 12 years, Frederick Greenleaf, of Chesterville, and his family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alden H. Smith; their daughter, Barbara Phillips; and a great-grandson, Jason Gregory Stebbins.
