WEST PARIS – Irene E. Theriault, 83, of Washington Street in Rumford, died Sunday, Nov. 23, at Ledgeview Living Center.

She was born in Rumford, on June 2, 1925, a daughter of John F. and Eva Rose (Lemieux) Harpe.

She was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1945.

She was married to Norman R. Theriault on June 1, 1947; he passed away on June 4.

She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior and served as a eucharistic minister and lector, and she was a member of the prayer group.

She was the founder of the What Not Shop and was very active with the Hope Association.

She made pilgrimages to the Holy Land and the Medugori Shrine in Guadeloupe, Mexico.

She loved collecting angels and had an extensive collection in her home.

Surviving are her children, Claire E. Hunt of North Carolina, Lawrence J. Theriault of Mexico, David T. Theriault and wife, Isabelle, of Rumford, Denny P. Theriault and wife, Cynthia, of Roxbury Pond and Ronald J. Theriault and wife, Sally, of Rumford; a sister, Theresa McIntire of Holbrook, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Norman R. Theriault, in June of this year; a baby daughter, Jeanne; a son, Raymond; two brothers, Lawrence Harpe and Clifford Harpe; and a sister, Lorraine Bonney.
