LEWISTON – Yvette G. Laliberte, 85 of 34 Brown St., Lewiston, died Sunday, Nov. 23, at her home with her family by her side after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born in Lewiston, June 11, 1923, the daughter of Alphonse and Anna (Rioux) Simoneau, one of five children, three brothers and one sister. She was educated in Lewiston schools, graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1940, and attended Bliss College.
On Jan. 16, 1945, she married Raymond A. Laliberte and raised their family in Lewiston. She was employed at North American Philips, as a secretary at Bates Mill and Dugas Express. She worked as a cashier at Bonneau’s Market for many years until her retirement in 1988.
She was a Holy Cross church parishioner and member of the Holy Cross Senior Citizens.
She will be remembered for her genuine kindness, always putting the needs of her family and friends ahead of her own.
Survivors include a daughter, Claire and husband, Paul Farrington, of Newcastle; two sons, Paul and his wife, Carmen, of Lewiston and Marc and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, John, Michael, Peter, Sarah and Joshua; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Alina; and a brother, Marcel of Bristol, Conn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond in 1998; her sister, Cecile Lavigne; and her brothers, Roland and Maurice Simoneau.
