LEWISTON – Lawrence C. Rich, 66, of 34 Jeffrey St. died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 23, at his home.

He was born in Portland, the son of Arthur and Thelma Meisner Rich. He was raised and educated in Portland. He served in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Larry was employed as a truck driver. He worked for the Land Air Trucking Co. for more than 13 years, retiring this past July.

He was a member of the local teamsters, the Elks, the AMVETS. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, drag racing, cards and volunteering at bean suppers. He was loved by all of the customers that he delivered to and all of the hats that were given to him, by them, that made up his extraordinary collection. His daughters were his pride and joy and their father was their hero; he always had a smile, an amazing wit and humor.

He is survived by two daughters, Lorie Rich of Portland and Denise Tate of Westbrook; son-in-law, Paul Tate of Saco; three grandchildren, David White Jr., Cody Tate and Joseph Nappi; a brother, Arthur and wife, Pauline Rich, of Portland; brother-in-law, Willard Rice of Augusta; sister-in-law, Virginia Whittier of Windham; special companion, Mary Jane Gervais of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Judy Rich; and a sister, Eileen Deering.
