LEWISTON – Maurice B. Longchamps, 77, a resident of 69 Lisbon Road, Sabattus, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 17, 1931, the son of Desire and Irene (Arpin) Longchamps.
He was a Naval veteran of the Korean Conflict and was the owner of Longchamps and Sons Excavation, where he enjoyed growing his family business which made him most proud. He was an avid horse lover, who especially loved his horse, “Pal”, and also enjoyed hunting in the Maine woods. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Lisbon.
Survivors include three sons, James Longchamps and wife, Judy, of Lewiston, Anthony Longchamps and wife, Christine and Eric Longchamps and wife, Denise, all of Greene; three daughters, Diane LeBlanc and husband, Alan, of Lewiston, Debora Lafond and husband, Richard, of Greene and Ann Marie Spofford and husband, Matthew, of Auburn; one sister, Shirley St. Cyr of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, the former Irene Beaule Longchamps, who died March 11, 2002, he was predeceased by an adopted brother, Romeo St. Hilaire; and one brother-in-law, Laurier St. Cyr.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to Dr. Seth Gordon for his care and compassion during Dad’s illness.
