JAY – Two women were injured Tuesday on Route 133 after one vehicle slid off the road and was hit by another, which was hit by another near Beedy Road.
The accidents are believed due to the snowstorm, according to Jay police officer Steve Wilkinson’s accident report.
Shantelle Austin, 18, of Livermore Falls was standing on the side of the road talking to a driver of a second car that had stopped in the road after coming upon the accident. A car driven by Ronald Patterson, 27, of Biddeford, skidded, went into a ditch and knocked Austin into a ditch, Wilkinson said.
Patterson’s car continued on and struck the car that had stopped, which was operated by Tiffany Garris, 33, of Livermore Falls, before coming to a stop in a ditch, Wilkinson stated.
Austin complained of leg, back and elbow pain and was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington for treatment, Wilkinson said.
A passenger in Patterson’s 1997 Geo Metro, Sarah Stone, 29, of Norway complained of neck pain and was also taken to FMH for treatment.
Both Austin’s and Stone’s injuries were not life-threatening, Wilkinson stated.
Garris’ 1996 Ford Taurus received minor damage to a taillight and her passenger, Shawnessy Watson, 17, also of Livermore Falls, was uninjured, he stated.
Jay police Chief Larry White Sr. assisted at the scene along with the Jay Fire Rescue Department that also helped the injured and provided traffic control.
