JAY – The Daughters of Isabella met on Nov. 19 when they welcomed a new member, Fern Doiron. She did the short conferral; the long conferral will be held at a later date.

It was reported a Mass was held on Nov. 12 at St. Rose of Lima Church for departed members of the Daughters of Isabella and the Knights of Columbus. A social was held on Nov. 16 at the parish hall. The Knights of Columbus did the cooking, and some of the Daughters made desserts and helped with the serving and clean-up. A Chinese auction was held, with proceeds going to Right to Life.

Yearly donations were discussed, with money going to the Salvation Army, Operation Santa, Father Tom’s gift and cost for his meal at the Christmas party, Christmas baskets, Friends Together, Haiti, Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and the Food Cupboard.

Theme baskets were discussed and any member not yet signed up for a theme basket should call Shirley Couture.

Members decided if there is no school due to weather conditions this winter there will be no monthly business meeting or no monthly social.

The Christmas party will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11, at the VFW. The cost is $10 a person. Members are asked to bring a canned good for the basket. The Daughters of Isabella baked bean supper will be held March 21.
