I often have discussions about why I fear liberal politicians.

I am a conservative, which means I can’t stand waste or laziness. When I was hired to do a job, I was thankful and worked hard to earn my pay. Today, all I seem to hear is, “I’m making you money, so give me a raise, or else.”

The following are examples of what drives me crazy:

• About two weeks before Nov. 4, I heard the following on radio: “Who are you going to vote for and why?” The young lady responded, “I will support Obama, because if he is elected he will support me.” She then added, “I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car and I won’t worry about paying my mortgage.”

• This past summer, someone told me about retiring from his job with state government. He then added, ” … and guess what, Marcel, they replaced me with three people.”

Is that what liberals mean when they talk about creating jobs?

• An old friend, a local contractor, told me about installing a sewer line on Maple Street. Day after day, he would see young adult men sitting on a porch, smoking and drinking. One day, three or four of them started crossing the street, right in front of my friend, who said, “Don’t you guys ever work?”

One of them replied, “Why should we? You’re working.”

Soon, if anyone owns more than four sets of underwear, Gov. John Baldacci will tax them.
