I wonder, since home prices have fallen an average 20 percent, if our property taxes will go down, too?

It only seems right if our evaluation goes up, it should come down with the downturn we are having.

Why should we pay a high property tax on a home that has lost its value?

Well, I think you won’t hear anybody talk about property tax in this climate. It’s going to be hush-hush, if you know what I mean. While on this subject, I would like to add one more thing. Why is it, when they need to cut taxes, it always hits the schoolteachers first? Either that, or certain programs or the kids.

I think all these school administrators and higher-ups should take a cut in pay first, not the teachers or kids.

Also, why doesn’t Augusta cut its spending on pensions and such first? No more free stuff with our tax money.

Start cleaning your own house first, Augusta, before you come to take our good teachers away from us.
