LEWISTON – Joseph W. Laurinaitis, 92, of Falmouth Street in Rumford, died Monday, Dec. 1, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Rumford, Feb. 8, 1916, a son of Constantine and Constancis (Stalmuck) Laurinaitis. He was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1934. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Isabelle McClearn on June 6, 1948. She passed away on Nov. 13, 1985.
He was employed for many years at Boise Cascade and retired at the age of 70. He was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior. He was a member of the American Legion Post 24, the oldest member and a Golden Eagle Recipient of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1248.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Boston Red Sox and following all sports.
He is survived by two sons, William J. Laurinaitis and wife, Rita C., of Rumford and David L. Laurinaitis and wife, Deborah, of Mexico; five grandchildren, Betsy Marsters and companion, Mike, Raymond Laurinaitis and wife, Vicki, Justine Laurinaitis and companion, Josh, Joseph Laurinaitis and companion, Tameran, and Jerry Cote; seven great-grandchildren, Katie and Timothy Marsters, Breighdyn and Connor Mason, Brooke Griffin, and Alicia and BJ Laurinaitis; and a great-great granddaughter, Makenzie Marsters.
He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Bernice Laurinaitis; and three brothers, Stanley, William and Frank Laurinaitis.
