TOPSHAM – Virginia Merrill Murphy, 93, formerly of 146 Summer St., Auburn, passed away on Nov. 25, at Amenity Manor, where she had lived for the past eight years.

She was born in Lewiston, July 29, 1915, the daughter of the late Evelyn A. and Flora B. Spooner Merrill. She was raised in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1933. She married Vernon Murphy in 1938; they were a devoted couple until he passed away in 1998.

She was a homemaker and an active member of United Baptist Church in Lewiston, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also involved in many activities at the YWCA.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.
