LEWISTON – John Yakawonis Jr. passed away on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Lewiston, and raised on the family farm in Greene. He attended schools in Greene and Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1959.

He lived for many years in Dallas, Texas, and had recently retired and moved back to Maine.

He is survived by his companion, Michael Charest; a brother, Peter and his wife, Celeste, of Turner; and a niece, Sara Yakawonis of Portland.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy; and a brother, Gary.
