Auburn – Rachel (Custeau) Bernier, 87, died Dec. 5, after a brief illness.

She was born in Lewiston on June 20, 1921, a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Fouquette Custeau. She attended local schools and was a top-stitcher at various shoe shops until her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine Bernier; a son, Ronald Bernier; a grandson, David Bernier; and a granddaughter, Alison Chaussey; and great-grandson, Forrest Bernier. She is also survived by nieces, Lucille Allen and Joline Pelletier; and a nephew, Paul Pelletier.

Rachel was predeceased by her husband, Walter Bernier of Auburn Upholstery Co.
