Family skate

LEWISTON – The city of Lewiston will host a free holiday family skating event at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, 190 Birch St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9. Skate rentals will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, and children’s rentals will be free. Adult skate rentals will be $3. Music and food will also be available.

Dwinal Chapter

MECHANIC FALLS – Dwinal Chapter 28, OES, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Masonic Hall. A potluck supper will be served preceding a Christmas meeting at 6:30. All members of the order are invited.

Lodge degree

WALES – Webster Lodge 164, AF and AM, 322 Centre Road, holding the traveling gavel of the 23rd Masonic District, has scheduled a special communication on Thursday, Dec. 11, to confer the Fellowcraft Degree on one candidate. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a 6:30 supper. All regular masons, including Fellowcrafts, are invited.

Young at Heart

AUBURN – The Young at Heart Fellowship will meet at noon Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the Court Street Baptist Church to attend the advent service in the church sanctuary. A luncheon will be served at 12:30 in the vestry.

A business meeting will take place after the luncheon and there will be a special program of Christmas music presented by Charles Marshall. Instead of an exchange of gifts this year, items can be donated to the Young at Heart Fellowship for the benefit of a needy family. All senior citizens and their guests are invited.

Benefit event

HARRISON – The friends and family of Amanda Flanders are holding a benefit Friday, Dec. 12, at the Harrison VFW Hall, Route 35, to raise funds to help cover medical and care expenses for the 35-year-old woman who was paralyzed in an accident on Labor Day.

The event will start at 6 p.m. with a potluck supper, followed by a rock concert from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring members of more than 10 area bands, including Lucky Mutt, Red Hush, Krumpus, Razor, Ariel Haze, Led Foot, Suspects, Blake Brothers and A2Z. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction.

Amanda is originally from Poland and she and her husband, Todd, live in Waterford with their five children.

Christmas musical

LISBON – The Open Door Bible Church Choir will present a Christmas musical, “Come Let Us Worship the King,” at the church, 26 Gartley St., on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Christmas dinner

LEWISTON – A free Christmas dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25, at Hope Haven Gospel Mission, 209 Lincoln S. All who are in need are welcome. Shut-ins may call 783-6086 and a meal will be delivered.

Officer to speak

AUBURN – Modern Woodmen Camp 8794 will host a family life activity at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, at the B Street Community Center, 57 Birch St. Refreshments will be served.

Speaker will be Officer Thomas Murphy, Lewiston Police Department. He will discuss “Crime Prevention and Identity Theft.” Tickets must be picked up at Modern Woodmen, 67 Minot Ave., from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday or by calling 783-8804 or 1-800-561-8506.
