ST. HYACINTHE, Quebec, Canada – Sister Cecile Mathieu, 95, of the congregation of the Sisters of Charity of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, passed away on Dec. 8.

She was born in Salem, Mass., on May 30, 1913. She entered the community on March 19, 1934, and made her profession on Sept. 29, 1936.

She served in Berlin and Manchester, N.H., in North Smithfield, R.I., in Portland and in Lewiston, where she spent the greater part of her religious life. There she had various responsibilities: director of nursing at the Marcotte Home and she was responsible for the sisters as local superior, regional superior and provincial superior and also rendered multiple services to the community.

In 2002, at age 89, she retired to the Mother House in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec.

Surviving are a few nephews and nieces from Connecticut and Maine.
