LEWISTON – Multiplatinum and Grammy Award-winning Jars of Clay will headline Worship Radio and Soulfest’s “Love Came Down at Christmas” concert Friday, Dec. 19, at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Also performing will be the five-piece Texas-bred Christian band Leeland, which has a Grammy and four Dove Award nominations to its credit; Christian singer/songwriter Sara Groves; and the Grammy-nominated and multiple Dove award-winning band Sixpence None the Richer.

Jars of Clay, which is made up of Dan Haseltine, Charlie Lowell, Stephen Mason and Matt Odmark, launched its career with the hit song, “Flood” in 1995. Since then, the band has amassed five gold, two platinum and one double platinum certifications, three Grammys, an American Music Award nod, 17 No.1 radio hits and numerous film credits and BMI honors for songwriting and performing.

In June 2007, the band created its own label imprint, Gray Matters, under the Nettwerk Music Group umbrella.

While celebrated for its music and writing, Jars of Clay is most concerned with the many needs in Africa. Compelled to make a difference, Haseltine, Lowell, Mason and Odmark founded Blood:Water Mission in early 2002. The first effort of this nonprofit was the 1000 Wells Project, with a goal of raising funds to build, rebuild and repair 1,000 wells in urban and rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa. To date, more than 300 projects have been constructed bringing clean water to more than 100,000 people.
