FARMINGTON – Shane P. Cote has been named Farmington Police Department Employee of the Quarter Summer 2008.
Police Chief Richard E. Caton III said, “During this quarter you implemented mobile data terminals in our cruisers. This was the result of a grant that you applied for and received on behalf of the Farmington Police Department.”
The computers in the cruisers are connected to the police department’s data base and the state Bureau of Motor Vehicle data base. The computers provide officers access to more information during incidents.
Canton said the officers can complete paperwork on the computers while in the cruisers, allowing the officers to stay on the roadways rather than in the police station.
Caton said the implementation of the technology contributes to the Farmington Police Department’s mission of creating a feeling of safety for people in the town, with the additional information available to officers and the increased efficiency of officers staying on patrol.
