RUMFORD – Catherine M. “Cassie” Goodoff, 84, formerly of Whitman Street in Mexico, died Monday, Dec. 8, at Rumford Community Home, after a long illness.
She was born July 19, 1924, in Killaloe, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of Patrick and Beatrice (Quilty) Ryan. She was educated in schools in Canada, and moved to this country in 1949. She married Alphonse Goodoff on June 6, 1949; he passed away in 1991.
She was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church for many years and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a former member of the LeParesseux Snow Shoe Club. She loved gardening, word search puzzles and was a big Boston Bruins fan. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rumford Community Home for the wonderful care given to Cassie.
Surviving are her children; a son, Thomas Goodoff and companion Jill Ferris, of Bellingham, Mass.; five daughters, Judy Sanborn and husband, David, of Rumford, Claire Coombs and husband, James, of Newport, R.I., Muriel Slade and husband, Carl, of Maryville, Tenn., Paula Richard and husband, Roger, of Mexico, and Peggy Goodoff and companion, Jerry DeWolfe, of Douglas, Mass.; six sisters, Mildred Mooney of Ontario, Connie Halfpenny of Ontario, Hannah Ryan of Ontario, Rachael Code of Ontario, Anita Ryan of Ontario, and Lorretta McEachen and husband, Reginald, of Ontario; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Alphonse Goodoff; a sister, Agatha McEachen; and three brothers, Stephen Ryan, Patrick Ryan and Desmond Ryan.
