AUBURN – A celebration of life service honoring the life of Robert E. Buchanan was held Wednesday at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Barbara Barth, Rector and the Rev. Robert Smith Jr. of the Aroostook Episcopal Cluster concelebrated. The processional song was by bagpiper, George Pulkkinan who played “Bonnie Banks O’Loch Lomand” in honor of Bob’s Scottish heritage in entrance to church. At the conclusion of church services, the U.S. Air Force honor detail presented our country’s flag to Robert’s wife, Bette after the playing of “taps” and a firing detail in salute of her husband’s service to our country during World War II, as well as for his 25 years of service in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Pallbearers were John, Jim and Greg Willette, Justin Goulet, Aaron DeAngelo and Jeremy Douglas. After military honors, bagpiper, George Pulkkinan played, “Amazing Grace” to conclude the services. A spring burial will be privately held in the family lot at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Auburn. Arrangements by Dillingham & Son Memorial Chapel.
