Lancaster, Calif. – Blanche Rose Berube, 99, a resident of Palmdale, Calif., formerly of Jay, died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Lancaster Health Care Center in Lancaster, Calif.
She was born in Jay on Dec. 29, 1908, the daughter of Joseph and Marianna (Dumais) LeClerc and attended the local schools. On Nov. 21, 1936, she married William Berube at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Blanche and her husband raised their nephew, Daniel Menard, from birth due to the illness of his parents. Mr. Berube passed away on Jan. 24, 1991. She worked at the Glove Shop in Livermore for many years. She was a former communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and was a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne and St. Jean the Baptist of Jay.
She had lived in California with her nephew and his wife for the past 11 years. She cherished the time spent with her family and the many friends she had made through the years. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Survived by her nephew, Daniel Menard and his wife, Stephanie, of Palmdale, Calif.
She was predeceased by five sisters, Rita Baston, Rose Menard, Leanne Arsenault, Lena Melcher and Leonie Gagnon.
