Turner – Joseph Rene Goyette, 81, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 13, at his residence of Howes Corner Road in Turner.

He was born Oct. 15, 1927, in New Rochelle, N.Y., the son of Flavius and Bertha (Gauthier) Goyette. He attended school in New York and Sabattus. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Aug. 13, 1949, in New Rochelle, N.Y., he married Barbara Benz. He worked as a farmer, a laborer at Bancroft and Martin in Leeds and later for Gates Formed Fiber in Auburn, retiring after 18 years of service.

He was a member of the Auburn American Legion.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working on cars and watching sports. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Turner; two sons, Robert Goyette and his wife, Linda, of Jay and Roger Goyette of Turner; three daughters, Marie Spence and her husband, Cecil, of Livermore, Georgianna Edmunds and her husband, Ernest, of Canton and Renee Goyette and her companion, Louis “Ted” McDonald, of Livermore; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Gregory A. Goyette, on July 23, 1994; his parents; his sister, Aurea McDonald; and his brother, Roger Goyette.
