William Slavick, coordinator of Pax Christi Maine, cites the warm embrace of same-sex marriage by mainline Protestants in Maine (Nov. 23). Those same Protestants have succumbed to the pagan culture around them, resulting in all the social disorder that Slavick cites as reality.
Additionally, churches for those same Protestants suffer serious declines in membership compared to the explosive growth in such groups as Nazarenes and Pentecostals.
I believe those groups are taught to live the ideals of their faith and to cling to Christianity’s absolutes.
The early Christians of Greece and Rome had to live the ideals of their faith as taught to them from the prophets of old and the apostles of the early church. Those early Christians disdained the rampant adultery, divorce, infanticide (abortion), promiscuity, homosexuality and pedophilia of the ancient world. Christianity never would have survived unless those professing the faith lived the biblical ideals.
I beg of Pax Christi and mainline Protestants of Maine to join with Bishop Richard Malone in upholding the ideals of Christianity by rejecting the perversion of same-sex marriage.
