The Calden family lit candles in memory of their daughter Kali, who drowned in the Swift River on June 23, 2004, at the age of 16. The Lewiston Chapter of Compassionate Friends gather for the annual worldwide ceremony on the second Sunday of each December. The support group assists families following the death of a child and they having meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at d’Youville Pavilion. A new siblings support group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month beginning in February. Peters’ son Deryk died in a Canton house fire at the age of 23.
