TURNER – Leslie E. Pearl, 76, a resident of Upper Street in Turner, died Sunday, Dec. 14, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Leeds, on Sept. 27, 1932, the son of Arthur Sr. and Eunice (Houghton) Pearl and attended Leavitt schools. On July 7, 1951 in Camden, N.J., he married Lorraine DiMatties of Pennsauken, N.J.
Les served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He owned and operated Tocha Farm in Turner and had worked for K & K Construction of Turner, retiring in 1991. He and his wife enjoyed their winters in Haines City, Fla., for 10 years until 2006.
He was a devoted and dedicated husband to his wife, Lorraine, caring for her since her diagnosis of Parkinson’s in 2001. They enjoyed many years of dancing together before her illness. He always looked forward to the 4 p.m. social hour in his garage with his close friends.
He was a member of the Turner Grange, Ashler Masonic Lodge of Auburn and participated at the Nezinscott Lodge in Turner.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years of Turner; a daughter, Nancy Henthorn and her husband, Dennis, of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; a brother, Edward Pearl and his wife, Donna, of Oakland; a sister, Nancy Youland and her husband, David, of Turner; a sister-in-law, Joan Pearl; two grandchildren, Todd and Chad Henthorn; two great-grandchildren, Coty and Harrison; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Butcher; and a brother, Arthur Pearl Jr.
