LEWISTON – Rachael E. Downing, 41, a resident of 35 Dill St., Lewiston, died peacefully at home Saturday, Dec. 13.

She was born in Portland, Aug. 2, 1967, the daughter of Thomas E. and Donna (Webber) Belfi.

She grew up in the Oxford Hills area and was a 1985 graduate of Oxford Hills High School. She then moved to California, where she started a family and she lived there for 17 years. In 2003, she moved back to Maine to be closer to her roots, where she enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, and her dog, “Joey.”

She also loved spending time with family and friends. The last year of her life was filled with happiness upon meeting her companion, Ed Mears who survives her of Lewiston.

Also surviving is one son, Xavier Downing of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Don Belfiano and wife, Jackie, of Otisfield; two sisters, Ann Terrio and husband, Ernest, of Lewiston and Helen Tidd and husband, Scott, of Nahant, Mass.; four nephews, Joshua, Scott, Christian, and Connor; and one niece, Samantha Belfiano.
