LEWISTON – LAYHL U16 girls’ hockey recorded three recent shutout victories: 2-0 over Western Maine; 4-0 over Auburn; and 5-0 again over Western Maine.

Paige Fontaine and Erica Lemieux scored the goals in the first triumph over WMYHL. Makaela Field and Natalie Rousseau assisted Fontaine’s goal. Kaylee Younk set up Lemieux.

Rousseau connected twice against Auburn. Mariah Martin and Paige Fontaine recorded unassisted goals. Field posted two assists, with one assist each from Fontaine and Tia Rotolico.

Lemieux, Rousseau, Martin and Rylee Letourneau did the scoring damage in the rematch against Western.

Brianna Lajoie posted the shutout between the pipes in all three games.

Jr. Maineiacs Squirts post pair of 3-0 wins

The Lewiston Jr. Maineiacs Squirt Travel hockey team registered back-to-back shutouts in recent league play. Lewiston downed Capital District Select, 3-0, with a shutout triumph by the same score over Maine Coast Selects of Rockport.

Lewiston scored a goal in each period to turn back the Augusta-area squad. Devin Dumont backstopped the win. Isaac Dube, Cooper Richard and Justin Keaney found the net for the Jr. Maineiacs (7-2-2). Assists went to Noah Buiniskas, Joseph Bisson and Roman Dennis.

Kyle Welsh posted the shutout in the second game. Bisson led the offense with two goals. Jeromey Rancourt notched the other. Kyle Morin, Ryley Austin and Richard produced the assists.

Two wins, tie for Bantams

Lewiston Jr. Maineiacs Bantam Travel beat Bangor, 8-4, and Saco, 5-0, over the weekend. Casco Bay played Lewiston to a 2-2 tie. Lewiston improved to 13-2-1 overall, 7-0-1 against in-state rivals.

Bobby St. Hilaire led the charge against Bangor with two goals and an assist. Eric Soucy added a goal and two assists. Alex Gregoire and Jake Bergeron registered one goal and one assist each, while Luke Olehowski, Brendan Pelletier and James Waldron each lit the lamp once. Tanner Hubbard, Drew Olehowski and Greg Alexander were credited with assists. Evan Bourassa tended the net.

Bergeron and St. Hilaire scored in the deadlock against Casco Bay. Gregoire, Soucy and Hubbard picked up assists.

Noah Hutchinson was the goalie.

Gregoire celebrated a hat trick at Saco’s expense. Soucy scored the other two goals. Assists went to Bergeron, Ivan Ramirez-Pulido and Jordan Charest. Bourassa protected the shutout in goal.
