Kylee Nason, a fifth grade student from Poland Spring Academy, thought up the idea of Ky’s Kampaign. This was a result of Jessica Hunnewell’s influence when she adopted a needy family last Christmas and offered Kylee a chance to help her shop for this family. Inspired to do more, Kylee began her campaign in November collecting toys for children in need who don’t have enough for Christmas.
She placed flyers in various places and takes phone calls from 1-1:30 p.m.every school day as part of her required community service hours. With help from students, staff and community members, she has collected quite a bit. She will enjoy continuing her efforts not only for Christmas, but for birthdays as well. All toys donated before Christmas will be given to “Santa Comes to Poland.” Kylee is thankful to everyone who has helped with this effort.
The size of the donation doesn’t matter, but the kindness behind the gift iswhat matters. The smallest toy can make Christmas a magical time for a child who has very little. We are thankful for her readiness to help those in need this Christmas season.
