As the staff and students of Lewiston Middle School bustled into the auditorium, many of the students looked up to see the stage. Perched on it were a drum set, a keyboard, and an odd looking instrument, which the school later found out was an electric violin. Along with those instruments, were three people, the members of Grovelily: Gene Lewin, Valerie Vigoda, and Brendan Milburn. As soon as the music started playing, you could see kids swaying back and forth, or tapping their feet. The music was not the everyday stuff you hear when you turn on the radio.

They were unique songs that the band members came up with themselves. Each song told a story. There were fast and slow songs, and even songs where the students could sing along! As each song played, the students, and some teachers, got more and more into the action, and pretty soon, they were waving their hands in the air. Everyone, even the teachers, had a great time. After the last song was played, when everyone bustled back out of the auditorium on their way to class, they had the tune of their favorite song, playing over and over, in their heads.
