The Philip W. Sugg Middle School Student Council is a committee made up of two students from each home room. This selection of students helps other students learn how to prevent bullying, promote fund raising and many other projects. Elected President among the student council members was Paige Hussy, an 8th grade student. Mina Craig, also an eighth grade student, serves as the Vice President, and Claudia Lemieux, a seventh grade student, is the year’s Secretary.
The committee meets every week on Tuesday afternoon to talk about past, present, and future activities. Committee members also talk about improving their committee by helping the school with more funding ideas. Ms. Veronica Koza, the advisor of the Student Council, helps the students develop their leadership skills by giving advice and sharing ideas. Ms. Koza also helped organize last years’ Guitar Hero tournament, an activity that strengthens hand and eye coordination. The Student Council has many more plans to help their community, one of which is a food drive for the holidays. We are sure to have a great year, if our Student Council has anything to say about it.
