WALES – Maranacook used a 20-14 run in the fourth quarter to edge Oak Hill 52-50 in KVAC girls’ basketball action Thursday.
Sarah Maxwell led the Black Bears (2-2) with 14 points, while Hannah Clough and Katie Dore added 10 apiece. The Raiders (2-2) held a four-point advantage at the end of the third before Maranacook picked up the intensity.
Oak Hill was paced by Maggie Sabine with 14 points, while Alex Donald tallied 11 and Kerie Heyden added 10. Ambyr Provost also contributed for Oak Hill with 10 points.
Mtn. Valley 65, Telstar 26
BETHEL – Mountain Valley erupted with 28 points in the third quarter and went on to hold Telstar to just two points in the final stanza as the Falcons flew off with a 65-26 victory over the Rebels in a girls’ basketball game Thursday.
The Falcons (3-1) held a slim 21-16 lead at the half before opening up in the third quarter. Ayla Allen led the way with 19 points, Meagan Maifield had 11 and Taylor Smith scored another 10 for Mountain Valley.
For winless Telstar (0-4), Kayla Merrill scored 11 points.
Wells 55, Poland 24
WELLS – Lily Colley poured in 13 points Thursday as Wells hustled to a 55-24 victory over Poland in more WMC girls’ action.
Ashley Moulton chipped in for Wells (3-2) with eight points, while Brooke Stevens added seven. Wells jumped out to an 18-3 advantage in the first quarter and was never challenged.
The Knights (0-5) were paced by Kendra Cyr with a nine-point performance.
while Alexa Doyer contributed with six.
