PORTLAND – Larry Everett Wilbur, 51, of Portland, formerly of Wilton and Jay, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the Georgia Street residence, operated by Goodwill Industries of Northern New England.

He was born on April 12, 1957, in Farmington, the son of Elton and Beatrice (Mitchell) Wilbur. He graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 1975.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard after high school from 1975 until 1979, and then went to work for G.H. Bass.

After a traumatic motorcycle accident in 1983, he lived in Jay, a rehabilitation center in New Hampshire, and most recently at Goodwill Industries of Northern New England’s Georgia St. Home in Portland, where he has lived for the past 18 years, which along with the other residents, was very dear to Larry’s heart.

He was an avid musician as a young man and enjoyed playing many instruments and in various bands. He recently enjoyed learning and taking photography classes.

He is survived by a son, Alex Wilbur of Augusta; a daughter, Starr Baxter and her husband, Mark, of Augusta, and their son, Brady; two sisters, Alice Wilbur and Lydia Fisher and her husband, William, of Mechanic Falls; and many other extended family members.

He was predeceased by his father in 2002; and mother in 2003.
