LEWISTON – Edgar D. “Blackie” Belanger, 82, a resident of 158 Russell St., formerly of Old Greene Road, died Thursday, Dec. 18, with his family by his side at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born in Caribou, Oct. 18, 1926, the son of Amos and Anna (Cyr) Belanger.

He was a member of Holy Family Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 10019 and the Reverend Peter Conroy Assembly 2516 of Holy Family Parish. He had been employed with Central Maine Medical Center until his retirement.

His hobbies included golf, fishing, and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, the former Lorraine Turcotte of Lewiston; one son, Roland Belanger of Auburn; two daughters, Diane Belanger of Orono and Donna Belanger of Auburn; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Russell Park and St. Mary’s Hospital for the wonderful care given to Edgar during his illness.
