PORTLAND – Frances M. “Fannie” Isaacson, 96, formerly of Minot Avenue in Auburn, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, at Cedar’s Health Care Facility.
She was born in Boston, Mass., April 10, 1912, a daughter of Kopel and Elizabeth (Ratkin) Model and was educated in Exeter, N.H., schools. On April 21, 1945, she married Eli Isaacson, who predeceased her on Sept. 9, 1983.
She worked as a homemaker as she and her husband raised their family. Fannie was a member of Beth Abraham Synagogue in Auburn as well as Temple Beth El in Portland, a life member of Hadassa, a member of the Sisterhood of Beth Abraham, the Women’s Hospital Association, and the Central Maine Medical Center Board of Corporaters.
In addition, she was a CMMC benefactor, a friend and benefactor of Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H., and a friend and benefactor to Kents Hill High School, where her generosity enabled the school to create a computer lab that is named after her son and dedicated to his memory.
She leaves many nieces and nephews; very close friends, Don and Marthe Bissonnette of Lewiston; and a sister-in-law, Augusta Moldawan of Florida.
She was predeceased by her husband; a son, Kent Isaacson; and a brother, Morris Moldawan.
