PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – Portsmouth, N.H., police say a driver has been charged with a rare felony-level drunken driving charge after hitting a pedestrian in the city’s downtown district.

Twenty-seven-year-old Christopher Pappajohn of Nashua allegedly hit a pedestrian at an intersection around 10 p.m., Saturday night, sending the victim to the hospital with a hurt leg. Police say the injury was serious but not life threatening.

Pappajohn was taken into custody at the scene and charged with a felony count of driving while intoxicated, a felony reckless conduct charge and a misdemeanor charge of vehicular assault.
