LEWISTON – Lindon U. Bartlett, 72, of Hartford, and formerly of Hanover, died in Lewiston on Dec. 19.

He was born in Mechanic Falls on June 25, 1936, the son of Harold Lindon and Iva (Small) Bartlett and was educated in Bethel schools and he married Jennie Richardson on Sept. 13, 1954.

He had served his country in the U.S. Army from June 1954 through June 1957, and later in the U.S. Navy from June 1958 until July 1962. After leaving the military he had worked at International Paper as a millwright from 1965 until he retired in 1995.

He liked to hunt and fish and play golf, but was especially fond of flying out of the Bethel airport with his friends. He was a member of the Masons, Kora Shrine, American Legion in Rumford, and the Am Vets and VFW of Jay.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jennie Bartlett of Hartford; a daughter, Jackie Hood and her husband, Dana, of Turner and their three children, Landis Bornales and her husband, Chris, Chad Hood and his wife, Kelly and Nathan Hood and his wife, Sherri, all of Auburn; one brother, Wayne Bartlett; and one sister, Alafretta Sirmeyer, both of Florida; and six great-grandchildren, Bradley, Jayden, Jyllian, Roman, Luke and Kayleigh.
