I read an excellent opinion piece by Elijah Breton, a freshman, in the Academic Advocate of Dec. 16. He was commenting on the lack of common sense and responsibility of many of today’s professional athletes. The article showed an excellent ability to reason and put his thoughts into words. The Sun Journal should consider giving him a job for its sports page.
I think many people are getting tired of the way some highly paid athletes are being supported by ticket holders, while thumbing their noses at those same supporters. One athlete I would like to see banned for life is former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, but it appears that he will soon be back on the field earning his same exorbitant salary.
I hope the football commissioner sees fit to do his duty. If not, professional football may go the way of wrestling and roller derby.
