LEWISTON – HealthSteps at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center has announced its winter core classes.
Aquatic Fitness: A toning, calorie-burning workout. While swimming skills are not needed, a comfort level in deep and shallow water is important. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m.
Balance Ball Cardio Blast: Improve coordination in a heart-pumping class using an exercise ball. Tuesdays from 7:15 to 8:10 a.m.
Core and Stretch: An abdominal and lower back workout to help increase flexibility and strength. Tuesdays, Thursdays from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m.
Dance Aerobics: Learn to dance while working out. Try everything from country line dancing and Latin to Motown and disco. Wednesdays from 7 to 7:45 a.m.
Lap Swim: Swim in the 25-meter, eight-lane pool supervised by a certified lifeguard. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 6:05 to 7:30 a.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays, 6:05 to 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon.
Step Aerobics: The high-energy workout offers a safe and low-impact option for those who would like a more intense class. Mondays from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
Step and Tone Interval: The class alternates between low-impact step aerobics and total body strengthening exercises for an all-around workout. Fridays from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m.
TNT (Tone-N-Tighten): The weighted workout focuses on strengthening the major muscle groups of the upper and lower body using resistance tubes, bands and weights. Mondays from 7 to 7:45 a.m. and Wednesdays from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
Time to Relax: Take time to cool down and unwind with deep relaxation. Fridays from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m.
Walk Jog: Use the indoor track for a group warm-up, strengthening, cool-down and stretching. Mondays through Fridays from 6:05 to 6:55 a.m.
Yogalates on the Ball: A fusion of yoga and pilates on an exercise ball to increase flexibility, improve coordination and develop strength. Thursdays from 7:15 to 8:10 a.m.
All core classes are held in the Bates College Merrill Gym They will run from Jan. 5 through May 22. The cost of a core membership, which includes all of the above classes, is $144. All instructors are certified.
