PARIS – The Paris Public Library is beginning a monthly book club for adults in January. The group will meet at the library on the fourth Wednesday of each month to discuss that month’s selection and have snacks.

A special first “Meet and Greet” meeting is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, where participants will receive the first book.

The format for the group will be based on differing themes, changing every three months. The books selected for each theme will be composed of classic literature and critically recognized “new classics.”

For example, the first theme, running from January to March, is “Unrequited Love.” The book chosen for January is “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Bronte. February will be “First Love” by Ivan Turgenev, and “Love in the Time of Cholera” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is the choice for March.

Participants will choose the next theme for April, May and June. Future themes may include “Journeys to the East” or “Heroines of Fiction.”

The Paris Public Library also offers a book club for elementary school-aged children.
