A few days ago, for some reason, the Sun Journal Web site was down. Try as I might and no matter how hard I hit the enter button on my computer, the Web site just wouldn’t arrive.

I felt like a beached whale. How was I going to start my day without reading the news of Lewiston-Auburn?

Since I’ve moved too far away for a delivery subscription, my only connection to the news of the Twin Cities remains on the Web site. But when I didn’t even have that at my disposal, I was ruined for the rest of the day.

I’m not kidding.

So I got in my car. I drove close to five miles to the nearest convenience store which I thought may have some issues left on their shelves. But when I arrived at the store, there were none to be had.

I was in a near panic at that point.

A reply from the store’s owner was very telling. It was explained that the store doesn’t carry as many papers as it used to. It seems everybody reads the news on line these days.

Well, I’ve learned my lesson. If I want access to the news from Lewiston-Auburn, I’m going to (one way or another) subscribe to the Sun Journal, put it squarely in my hands and read it.

For some reason, reading the newspaper in my hands seems more reliable than the fickle ether of the Internet.
