TURNER – Ben Russell deposited 27 points Tuesday night to propel Mt. Blue to a 72-41 victory over Leavitt in a KVAC boys’ basketball tilt.

The Cougars (5-1) jumped out to a 15-9 lead in the first quarter and were never challenged. Jamie Sawyer and Ryan Backus also contributed for Mt. Blue with 11 points each.

The Hornets (0-6) were paced by Doug Nash with an 11-point performance, while Jordan Hersom added 10.

Boothbay 61, Monmouth 43

BOOTHBAY – Unbeaten Boothbay used a 22-10 run in the third quarter to pull away from Monmouth for a 61-43 victory in a MVC boys’ matchup Tuesday.

Dylan Brandt led the Seahawks (6-0) with 21 points, while Dan Dickinson tallied 14. Alex Gorey and Dan Hallinan also contributed with 10 points apiece.

The Mustangs were led by Josh Davis with 21 points, while Parker Ferland added 11.

Gardiner 44, Oak Hill 33

GARDINER – Senior guard Eric Goodwin scored 12 of his 18 points in the first quarter as Gardiner cruised to a 44-33 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.

The Tigers (4-2) ripped 20 points in the first quarter, and grabbed a 32-13 halftime lead. Jordan Grant and Dan Paradee recorded 12 points each for Gardiner.

Senior guard Ben Rines led the Raiders (0-6) with 13 points, while Shawn Greenier chipped in with 10 points in the losing effort.

Edward Little 50, Bangor 46

BANGOR – Senior forward Corey Therriault nailed down an impressive 21 points to power Edward Little to a 50-46 tiurmph over Bangor in KVAC boys’ basketball aciton Tuesday.

The Red Eddies (4-1) pulled ahead in the third quarter, coming off a 25-23 halftime deficit and held on to the final buzzer.

Junior forward James Philbrook pitched in with 13 points for Edward Little.

Dan Taft led the Rams (2-4) with nine points in the losing effort.

Cape Elizabeth 72, Poland 42

CAPE ELIZABETH – Cape Elizabeth jumped out to a 21-4 lead in the first quarter and went on to record a 72-42 rout over Poland in a WMC boys’ matchup Tuesday.

Alex Bowie led the Capers (5-2) with 12 points, while Connor Maloney and Andrew Dickey added eight points each.

The Knights (1-6) were paced by Matt Brewster and Joe Murphy with eight points each, while Trey Ouellette added seven.

Wiscasset 60, Jay 58

JAY – Josh Hopkins drained a game-high 17 points to lead Wiscasset in a 60-58 MVC win over Jay on Tuesday.

The Tigers (4-3) trailed by six at the break and outscored the Redskins 16-9 in the third quarter, but couldn’t match a Redskins basket with less than 20 seconds remaining in the game.

Nick Hinkley also hit double figures for the Redskins (5-1) with 14 points.

Kyle Storer paced the Tigers with 15 points, including a pair of treys. Dylan Stefani added 12 and Kyle DeMillo 10.

Gray-NG 37, York 36

GRAY – Taylor Valente scored the game-winner with 20 seconds to play and Kyle Orlando sealed the victory with a steal to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 37-36 triumph over York.

The Patriots (4-3) fought back from a three-point deficit after three quarters in a low-scoring game.

Cody Humphrey picked up the assist on Valente’s game-winning layup. Orlando then foiled York’s bid to reclaim the lead by stealing the ball with five seconds to play.

Valente and Humphrey finished with 11 points each. Dan Sheehan led York (3-3) with nine points.

Madison 71, Telstar 46

MADISON – Madison used a 19-8 third-quarter run to pull away from Telstar with a 71-46 triumph in MVC boys’ action.

The Bulldogs (3-3) had four players in double figures, led by Ezra Gourley with 17 points. Simon Elias chipped in with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Sam Perkins and Cody Small each added 10.

The Rebels (1-5) were paced by James Kimball with a 13 points, while Dan Vaughn tallied 11 and Joel Putnam added 10.

Mountain Valley 90, Mt. Abram 33

RUMFORD – Mountain Valley started out with a 23-4 run in the first quarter and proceeded to take Mt. Abram to school with a 90-33 rout Tuesday.

Matt Laubauskas led the undefeated Falcons (6-0) with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Travis Ruff chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Cam Kaubris tallied 13 and Jacob Arsenault added 10. With five players in double figures, Mountain Valley was on a roll.

The Roadrunners (0-6) were led by Cory Tripp with eight points, while Jim Barker and Peter Johnson each tallied six.

Skowhegan 51, Oxford Hills 50

PARIS – Craig Derouche hit a game-winning jumper in the final minute of regulation to lift Skowhegan to a 51-50 KVAC victory over Oxford Hills on Tuesday.

Down 32-19 at the break, the Indians outscored the Vikings 19-8 in the third quarter and hit key shots down the stretch, including a game-tying 3-pointer by Josh McGowan.

Derouche and Jordan Taylor each tallied 16 points to lead the Indians (3-3). Taylor hauled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Junior forward Jake Hall paced the Vikings (3-3) with 12 points, while Nate Dubois added nine points and six assists and Jordan Farrar registered eight points.
