Nativity story
WEST PARIS – The nativity story, interspersed with traditional carols, will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, at the Universalist Church, 128 Main St. The Rev. Richard Beal will deliver a Christmas Eve homily, “Don Quixote at Christmas.”

Eve service
DIXFIELD – Christmas Eve services will be held at the Dixfield Congregational Church, High Street, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24. Everyone is welcome.
Sunday service
PARIS – Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, South Paris, invites all to Sunday school the first Sunday after Christmas, Dec. 28, at 9 a.m. All are invited to the worship service at 10:15 a.m. followed by coffee, refreshments and fellowship.
Acupressure
LEWISTON – “Jin Shin Jyutsu: Leading to Self-Discovery and Life Energy for Cancer Patients, Survivors and Caregivers” will be the topic of a program set for Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Central Maine Medical Center.
Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner May Scott will demonstrate the simple ancient healing practice that uses gentle acupressure along the body’s “energy pathways” to help individuals experience physical, mental and spiritual harmony.
The program is being offered at no charge to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.
It will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Conference Room I on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building, adjacent to Central Maine Medical Center.

Society deadline
BETHEL – Kent G. Taylor, chairman of the 2008 Bethel Historical Society annual fund campaign, has announced that the deadline of Wednesday, Dec. 31, is approaching for participation in this year’s challenge where every first-time contribution will be matched on a one-to-one basis by the Stifler/Leadership Challenge.
An increased gift in 2008 will also be matched, dollar for dollar, to cover the increase over last year’s giving.
Various levels are available: Memorial $25; Freeholder $50; Proprietor: $100; Founder $250; Magistrate $500; Dr. Moses Mason Society $1,000-plus.
Gifts may be made in cash, securities, real estate, bonds, appreciated stock or other personal property.
