NORWAY – Laurence E. Sessions, 60, of Norway, died Monday, Dec. 22, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1948, to Lawrence A. and Eva (O’Brien) Sessions in Bethel. He was in the Marine Corps until the late 1960s. He was a Vietnam veteran, wounded twice and received two Purple Hearts.
He was a truck driver for many years, working for Roadway and Hannaford, where he earned the Million Mile Safe Driver Award. He recently worked for Wood’s Lawn Co. in Norway.
He was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved model trains and was actively involved in planning a building to display his lifelong collection. A veracious reader, he studied train history and visited layouts and shops from Maine to Florida, as he prepared to build his own layout. He especially enjoyed a home cooked meal.
He is survived by his siblings, Irene Sessions of Bethel, Sandy Thomas and her husband, Robert L., of Norway, Eris Sessions of Norway, Judy Brown and her husband, Lee, of Ansonia, Conn., Janice Lord of South Paris, Kenny Hatstat of West Paris, Jacqui Hatstat and Bernard Scribner of South Paris and Elaine Tisdale and husband, Jack Tisdale, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews across the United States.
He was predeceased by his father, Lawrence A.; sister, Beverly Gauthier; and niece and nephews, Raymond, Patty, Roland and Danny Gauthier and Frank Hill.
