POLAND – The newly elected Executive Board of the Maine Association of Conservation Districts reflects the wide range of expertise within the leadership of the soil and water conservation districts .

One member is a resident of Poland. Arthur Dunlap served as CEO for the town of Poland and is chairman of the Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District. He has experience with stormwater management and soil erosion control needs in town development.

Dunlap is a special friend of the Shriners and Maine Public Broadcasting Network.

Among the numerous decisions made by the conservation districts at the December meeting was unanimous passage of a resolution, drafted by the Franklin County district, urging that any reorganization of Maine’s natural resources agencies be designed to strengthen, rather than diminish, the importance of agriculture.

The directors and business meeting also voted to support a bond issue, being proposed by Maine’s Congress of Lake Associations, to protect lake water quality.
