AUBURN – Marguerite Y. Theriault Landry, 83, formerly of 90 Ash St., and Marshwood Health Care Center of Lewiston, died Sunday, Dec. 21, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, after a long illness with her family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston, on Dec. 31, 1924, a daughter of the late Nazaire and Yvonne (Bernard) Theriault. She graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1943. She was married to the love of her life, Roland D. Landry on July 4, 1951. He predeceased her in 2001.

She was part-owner and helped run the family business, Lewiston Crushed Stone. She worked for several years at the Androscoggin County Building, CETA Program and also served several years as a warden for the city of Lewiston voting polls.

She was a lifelong member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and a member of the Dames de St. Anne. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was very much loved for her warm smile and positive attitude. Her greatest fulfillment was her faith and devotion. She instilled in everyone that each day is a gift from God. She passed on to each of her children and grandchildren that no matter how difficult each day may be, tomorrow will be better.

She is survived by a son, Paul R. Landry and his wife, Brenda (Bisson), of Lewiston; two daughters, Susanne Hamann and her husband, Pierre, of Auburn and Denise Theriault and her husband, James, of Lewiston; four granddaughters, Kathryn (Katie) Landry Gradwell and her husband, Bryan, Danielle Landry and Brianne Landry, all of Lewiston and Michelle Hamann of Auburn; three grandsons, Roland Hamann and Paul Hamann of Auburn and Jake Landry of Lewiston; a great-grandson, Benjamin Giles Gradwell of Lewiston; sisters-in-law, Julie (Landry) Bannister of Auburn, Jeanne (Landry) Lessard and her husband, Fernand (Pete), of Lewiston, Fernande (Landry) Hamann and her husband, Phil, of Lewiston, Pauline (Landry) Cashman and her husband, John, of York, Arlene Landry of Lewiston and Germaine (Landry) Marquis of Auburn; and a brother-in-law, Richard Robert of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her husband; a son, Giles, who was killed in the line of duty in 1989, as a Maine State Trooper detective; a grandson, Zachary Landry; a sister, Jeanne Theriault; and four brothers, Roland, Gerard, Adrien and Raymond Theriault.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Roger Austin and the wonderful staff at the Hospice House for the great care they provided to Marguerite over the last two weeks, as well as the staff at Marshwood Health Care and Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavillion for their care.
